Multi‐environment trials and participatory validation identify soybean genotypes with mechanized harvest‐enabling traits in Ghana

open access: yesAgrosystems, Geosciences &Environment, Volume 9, Issue 3, September 2026.
Abstract Soybean (Glycine max [L.] Merr.) harvesting in Ghana is predominantly manual, and labor shortages frequently delay harvest beyond physiological maturity, exacerbating shattering losses. Mechanization could mitigate these losses, but effective combine harvesting requires cultivars with elevated first pod height (FPH) to minimize header losses ...

Problematic Internet Use and Family Rules Among Children and Adolescents

open access: yesNeuropsychopharmacology Reports, Volume 46, Issue 3, September 2026.
Among 8534 Japanese children and adolescents, previously established but no longer maintained family Internet rules were linked to higher odds of problematic Internet use (PIU). Collaboratively set rules were associated with lower PIU odds, whereas parent‐only rules and low rule adherence were linked to higher odds. ABSTRACT This study investigates the

Volatile Organic Compounds Emitted by Fungi Have Substantial Effects on Growth and Disease Resistance in Arabidopsis thaliana

open access: yesPlant, Cell &Environment, Volume 49, Issue 9, Page 7168-7190, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) emitted by certain fungi have previously been suggested to modulate plant development and their response to stresses. While some fungal species, such as Trichoderma harzianum, are known to produce VOCs, the production of VOCs in other phylogenetically divergent species, such as Mucor mucedo, was previously ...

Minute‐Scale Repeated Metabolic Probing of Living Cells Enabled by Rapid Parahydrogen‐Based Hyperpolarization

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, Volume 65, Issue 34, 17 August 2026.
Rapid parahydrogen hyperpolarization combined with simple dilution enables biocompatible delivery of hyperpolarized pyruvate to immobilized living cells within ≈1 min. Repeated substrate injections reveal frequency‐dependent metabolic dynamics, introducing a new temporal dimension for hyperpolarized NMR studies of cellular metabolism and enabling rapid

Réflexions sur le manga éducatif

open access: yesImage & Narrative, 2011
Educational manga account for a considerable amount of the Japanese comic book production. And yet, they are mostly ignored by academic studies. The moral virtues as they are portrayed by artists like Tezuka Osamu have played a crucial role in the ...

A Microphysical Model for Predicting Magma Fragmentation

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 15, 16 August 2026.
Abstract Explosive volcanic eruptions occur when coherent bubbly magma breaks apart in a process called “fragmentation.” Accurate conceptual and numerical models of fragmentation are a pre‐requisite for prediction of eruption explosivity. However, existing models, which neglect bubble‐scale magma physics, agree poorly with new experimental evidence ...

Flow resistance parameterization for large wood in two‐dimensional depth‐averaged models: Effects of flow condition, blockage, and sediment

open access: yesEarth Surface Processes and Landforms, Volume 51, Issue 8, August 2026.
Using 16 flume experiments and 2D modeling, we show that large‐wood flow resistance is not a fixed property of wood porosity but varies systematically with flow condition, blockage and most strongly sediment‐shaped bed topography. The drag coefficient and Manning's n are interchangeable, but calibration is essential where scour occurs.

Unified Brain Mechanisms Underlying the Processing of Word Order Permutations of Arguments and Adjuncts in Sentences

open access: yesHuman Brain Mapping, Volume 47, Issue 11, 01 August 2026.
Noncanonical word order sentences elicited stronger activation than their canonical counterparts in the left inferior frontal gyrus and posterior superior temporal sulcus, regardless of whether arguments or adjuncts were scrambled, suggesting unified neural mechanisms for word‐order permutation that involve additional hierarchical structure building ...
