Identification of genes for lignin peroxidases and manganese peroxidases in ectomycorrhizal fungi [PDF]

open access: yesNew Phytologist, 2001
•  Genes for ligninolytic enzymes, normally associated with white-rot fungi, are shown to be widespread in a broad taxonomic range of ectomycorrhizal (ECM) fungi. •  ECM fungi were screened for lignin peroxidase (LiP) and manganese peroxidase (MnP) genes by PCR using primers specific for known isozymes in the white-rot fungus Phanerochaete ...

Aquaculture Sludge as Co-Substrate for Sustainable Olive Mill Solid Waste Pre-Treatment by Anthracophyllum discolor

open access: yesAgronomy, 2023
Olive mill solid waste (OMSW) is an agro-industrial waste that has a high content of recalcitrant lignocellulose, which can adversely affect the environment.

Manganese peroxidase gene transcription in Phanerochaete chrysosporium: activation by manganese [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Bacteriology, 1991
The expression of manganese peroxidase in nitrogen-limited cultures of Phanerochaete chrysosporium is dependent on Mn, and initial work suggested that Mn regulates transcription of the mnp gene. In this study, using Northern (RNA) blot analysis of kinetic, dose-response, and inhibitor experiments, we demonstrate unequivocally that Mn regulates mnp gene

Degradation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (phenanthrene and pyrene) by the ligninolytic fungi Ganoderma lucidum isolated from the hardwood stump

open access: yesBioresources and Bioprocessing, 2018
Background Due to progress in science and technology, several harmful polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons are synthesized and released into the environment. In the present investigation, a phenanthrene- and pyrene-degrading white rot fungi Ganoderma lucidum

Bioprospection of ligninolytic enzymes from marine origin filamentous fungi

open access: yesAnais da Academia Brasileira de Ciências, 2021
Fungi are excellent producers of extracellular enzymes. Therefore, the present study aimed to investigate the screening of marine fungi, which are laccase and manganese peroxidase potential producers, in solid fermentation for future applications in ...

Widespread occurrence of expressed fungal secretory peroxidases in forest soils.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
Fungal secretory peroxidases mediate fundamental ecological functions in the conversion and degradation of plant biomass. Many of these enzymes have strong oxidizing activities towards aromatic compounds and are involved in the degradation of plant cell ...

Elucidating the role of media nitrogen in augmenting the production of lignin-depolymerizing enzymes by white-rot fungi

open access: yesMicrobiology Spectrum, 2023
Indigenous white-rot fungal isolates Schizophyllum commune, Phanerochaete chrysosporium, Ganoderma racenaceum, and Lentinus squarrosulus, demonstrating the ability to depolymerize lignin of the crop residues, were studied for their potential to produce ...

Manganese regulates expression of manganese peroxidase by Phanerochaete chrysosporium

open access: yesJournal of Bacteriology, 1990
The appearance of manganese peroxidase (MnP) activity in nitrogen-limited cultures of Phanerochaete chrysosporium is dependent on the presence of manganese. Cultures grown in the absence of Mn developed normally and produced normal levels of the secondary metabolite veratryl alcohol but produced no MnP activity.
