Monitoring African Megafauna in an Anthropogenic Landscape: A 15‐Year Case Study of the Vulnerable West African Giraffe

open access: yesAnimal Conservation, EarlyView.
We used pattern recognition software to correct misidentifications in a 15‐year photographic database of the last, vulnerable West African giraffe population in Niger. After revealing substantial methodological errors that had inflated population estimates by nearly 19%, we corrected individual encounter histories and applied capture‐mark‐recapture ...

Cryopreservation of mango (Mangifera indica L.) embryogenic cultures.

open access: yesCryo letters, 2003
Three techniques were compared for cryopreserving embryogenic masses (EMs) sampled from mango (Mangifera indica L.) cv. Zihua embryogenic cultures: (i) encapsulation/dehydration; (ii) pregrowth/dehydration; and (iii) vitrification. In all experiments, EMs were sampled from embryogenic cultures during their exponential growth phase and pretreated for 24

New Allergens Approved by the WHO/IUIS Allergen Nomenclature Sub‐Committee in 2021–2024 and Their Significance for Future Diagnostics, Regulation, and Research. An EAACI Task Force Report

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The WHO/IUIS Allergen Nomenclature Sub‐Committee is an international body of experts that maintains the systematic nomenclature of allergenic proteins by assigning official names to newly identified allergens submitted by researchers. Here, we summarize the data on new allergens approved between 2021 and 2024.

Art v 1 and Amb a 4 Co‐Sensitization Identifies Italian Patients at Risk for Mugwort‐Celery‐Spice Syndrome

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
Three molecular profiles identified among Art v 1/Amb a 4‐sensitized patients: Art v 1 monosensitization, Amb a 4 monosensitization, and dual sensitization to both allergens. Art v 1 monosensitization was predominantly associated with allergic rhinitis, reflecting a classical airborne allergy pattern.

Habitat use and diel activity of insectivorous bats across land‐cover types on an Afrotropical oceanic island

open access: yesConservation Science and Practice, EarlyView.
Using acoustic surveys, we investigated habitat use and diel activity patterns of insectivorous bats across the main land‐use types of the endemic‐rich Príncipe Island, in Central West Africa. We sampled bat activity at 48 sites spanning old‐growth forests, secondary regrowth forests, shaded cocoa plantations, and horticultural areas.

Mango (Mangifera indica L.)

open access: yes, 2015
Mango (Mangifera indica L.) is the number one fruit tree in respect to area, production, as well as income. It is known for its liking by the people, attractive color, vitamins, and mineral composition. The area under mango from 1978 to 1979 was 942,560 ha which was 42.6 % of the total area under fruits with a total production of 8.215 million tons. In

Effects of storage period and mass on seed germination of the Carabao mango [PDF]

open access: yesBiotemas, 2012
The mango is a species that produces recalcitrant seeds, which can be difficult to store. The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of storage period and mass on the germination of Carabao mango seeds. The fruits were picked and the pits were

Characterization of mango (Mangifera indica L.) genotypes based on physio-chemical quality attributes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Evaluation of fruit crops has been successfully utilized for studying the performance of varieties under different agro climatic regions time to time. In the present study cultivars were characterized on the basis of their physico-biochemical attributes.
