Individual variability shapes interaction rewiring and fosters ecosystem restoration by reintroduced giant tortoises in the Seychelles

open access: yesRestoration Ecology, Volume 34, Issue 4, May 2026.
Abstract Introduction Giant tortoises are critical for restoring lost ecological interactions on islands. Following their extinction in Seychelles centuries ago, key ecosystem processes like seed dispersal, browsing, and nutrient cycling were disrupted.

Tidal reinstatement of coastal wetlands: a global review

open access: yesRestoration Ecology, Volume 34, Issue 4, May 2026.
Abstract Introduction Coastal wetland restoration is a global priority due to its critical role in enhancing climate resilience and biodiversity. Tidal reinstatement, through the removal or modification of tidal barriers, is a promising method to restore these ecosystems.

Quantifying the Impact of Temporal and Spatial Heterogeneity in Turbulence on Bed‐Load Transport Over Vegetated Beds Under Wave‐Current Conditions

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 7, 16 April 2026.
Abstract Laboratory experiments measured velocity and bedload transport in vegetated channels under current‐dominated, combined wave‐current conditions. Waves and vegetation, respectively, introduced temporal and spatial heterogeneity in the velocity, which significantly impacted sediment transport rate.
