Effectiveness of conservation lands in Mexico for safeguarding terrestrial endemic species from the human‐induced extinction crisis

open access: yesConservation Science and Practice, Volume 8, Issue 8, August 2026.
Across 1639 endemic Mexican species, we show that most species' ranges coincide with moderate to high human pressure, while existing conservation lands cover only a small fraction of their distributions. This spatial mismatch indicates that current conservation–land networks are insufficient to prevent future biodiversity loss. Substantial expansion of

Aligning Conservation and Livelihoods: An Empirical Analysis of Wetland Ecosystem Product Value Realization in the Minjiang Estuary National Nature Reserve Using a Logit Framework

open access: yesNatural Resource Modeling, Volume 39, Issue 3, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Wetlands are known to provide vital ecosystem services and represent huge potential sources of ecological product values, which have become an important means of realizing these values under China's policy of ecological civilization. But little is known about the micro foundations that can connect demand from urban areas with local supply ...

Mangrove restoration without planting [PDF]

open access: yesEcological Engineering, 2011
Mangrove forests are disappearing at an alarming rate. Mangrove planting is the most common method of restoring these forests. However, this approach is not often successful, especially when the reasons for mangrove degradation were not removed prior to planting new seedlings or propagules.

Experiment on use of eco‐friendly Palmyra nursery bag for mangrove restoration in Palk Bay, India

Restoration Ecology, 2023
The restoration of degraded mangrove habitats is a global priority. In countries such as India, the significance of coastal mangrove forests is deeply embedded after the 2004 tsunami and numerous cyclones that caused immense damage to coastal communities.
