Abstract Pablo Picasso’s Les Demoiselles d’Avignon is a striking composition of five nude figures, only a few of which are obviously feminine (figure 2.1). The figure in the center has her arms lifted and crossed above her head; her dark eyes stare straight ahead with a blank expression.
