Effect of manipueira on tomato plants infected by the nematode Meloidogyne incognita

Crop Protection, 2015
‘Manipueira’ is the common name of a liquid residue discharged from Manihot esculenta starch factories that is rich in nutrients and cyanogenic glycosides. The goal of this work was to study the nematicide effect of ‘manipueira’ in the control of Meloidogyne incognita in field grown with tomato plants during winter and summer seasons.

Biochemical basis of the toxicity of manipueira (liquid extract of cassava roots) to nematodes and insects

Phytochemical Analysis, 2000
The presence of defence-related proteins and the concentration of cyanogens in the cell-sap solution of cassava roots (termed manipueira) have been investigated. It is demonstrated that manipueira is devoid of lectins, serine proteinase inhibitors and chitinase activity, although very low levels of α-amylase inhibitory activity were detected.

Exergy analysis of hydrogen production from manipueira biogas

Environmental Progress & Sustainable Energy, 2020
AbstractThe use of hydrogen as clean energy has been becoming more attractive, because it is the most abundant element in the universe, the lightest fuel and richest in energy per unit mass. Cassava is a commodity of great importance in several underdeveloped countries, where its products and by‐products are of great importance in the food chain of ...

Energy and stochastic economic assessment for distributed power generation from Manipueira biogas

Environmental Technology, 2022
Cassava is a staple food in many countries, and this food source differs from other crops in that its processing generates a highly polluting and toxic residue (manipueira) that requires further treatment. The present study analyzed the economic feasibility of anaerobic digestion of manipueira for producing clean electricity through distributed ...
