Lead‐free transparent nanocomposite for efficient clinical X‐ray shielding

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
A lead‐free nanocomposite of LaF3 nanoparticles exhibits a high optical transparency of 86% with a heavy loading of up to 70 wt%, which enables the design of radiation shielding goggles for interventional surgeons in real clinical scenarios. Abstract The increasing use of X‐ray imaging in the medical field has generated a growing need for efficient ...

Optimizing biophysical properties of cellular niches to enhance stem cell‐derived extracellular vesicle function in musculoskeletal regeneration

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
Extracellular vesicles (EVs) derived from stem cells show promise for applications in regenerative medicine, but their scalability and yield remain challenges. This review explores the approaches for biophysical modulations within cell niches on EV properties, discusses the current clinical application of EVs, and provides an outlook on the existing ...

Morphological Analysis of the Latissimus Dorsi Tendon Insertion: Implications for Optimizing Tendon Transfer Surgeries in Rotator Cuff Repair

open access: yesClinical Anatomy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Latissimus dorsi (LD) tendon transfer is widely used to treat irreparable rotator cuff tears, particularly in cases with posterosuperior and anterosuperior tear patterns. We conducted a comprehensive anatomical analysis of the attachment of the LD tendon to the humerus, focusing on its morphological patterns and morphometric features, which ...

Improvement in corrosion resistance and biocompatibility of AZ31 magnesium alloy by NH+2 ions [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
Magnesium alloys have been considered to be favorable biodegradable metallic materials used in orthopedic and cardiovascular applications. We introduce NH+2 to the AZ31 Mg alloy surface by ion implantation at the energy of 50 KeV with doses ranging from 1e16 ions/cm2 to 1e17 ions/cm2 to improve its corrosion resistance and biocompatibility.
