Abstract Red lists provide critical knowledge regarding biodiversity decline, especially in Finland, where broad assessments have been made regularly since the 1980s. They deliver information on the threat status of species and ecosystems, propose actions to guide conservation policy, and have the potential to spur transformative change.

Escalating Fire‐Driven Forest Loss in Protected Tropical Forests
More than 4 million hectares of protected tropical forest have been lost to stand‐replacing fire since 2001, with annual losses increasing through time in both the Americas and Africa. Protection most commonly reduced the proportion of stand‐replacing fire, but could not decouple temporal fire trends inside PAs from those outside.
