Vegetation on the move: elevational shifts and greening dynamics across the Himalayan alpine zone

open access: yesEcography, EarlyView.
This study investigates alpine ‘vegetation line' (the upper limit of continuous plant community) dynamics in the Himalayan alpine zone (HAZ) over a 24‐year timescale (1999–2022) using maximum NDVI products derived from Landsat series datasets, adjusted for sampling bias using phenological modelling.

On the Role of NAO Driven Interannual Variability in Rainfall Seasonality on Water Resources and Hydrologic Design in a Typical Mediterranean Basin [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
In the last several decades, extended dry periods have affected the Mediterranean area with dramatic impacts on water resources. Climate models are predicting further warming, with negative effects on water availability.

Impact of evidence‐based information on horse owners' misconceptions of colic

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Misconceptions can be defined as ‘false, persistent beliefs’ or ‘inaccurate, prior knowledge’ and can influence decision‐making. Objectives To investigate the impact of evidence‐based information on UK horse owners' decision‐making for colic. Study Design Mixed‐methods cross‐sectional study.

Homogeneity of Climate Aridity Index Trends Using Mann-Kendall Trend Test [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Korea Water Resources Association, 2014

Gene signatures characterizing driver mutations in lung squamous carcinoma are predictive of the progression of pre‐cancer lesions

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, EarlyView.
What's New? Lung squamous cell carcinoma (LUSC) is more aggressive than lung adenocarcinoma, and is most often diagnosed at an advanced stage. Here, the authors evaluated gene expression data from LUSC tumors and came up with gene signatures for 34 genetic abnormalities whose expression changes throughout different precancerous stages. Several of these

Roadway Crash Trend Analysis with Innovative Trend Analysis and Mann-Kendall Test

open access: yes, 2022
Following the national goal of crash reduction, the state of Louisiana set an ambitious goal of ‘Destination Zero Deaths’ (DZD), aiming to halve the number of fatalities and severe injuries by 2030. The goal of this study is to detect and quantify fatal and severe injury (FSI) trends in several DZD focus areas, including young drivers, alcohol ...

Reframing Post‐Hepatectomy Liver Failure as a Determinant of Post‐Recurrence Survival in HCC

open access: yesJournal of Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Sciences, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Post‐hepatectomy liver failure (PHLF) is traditionally considered a transient perioperative complication with limited long‐term consequences, yet its long‐term oncologic implications in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remain unclear. Methods Patients undergoing primary hepatectomy for HCC between 2007 and 2018 were analyzed.
