Improving Agar Plate Image Quality Using a Low‐Cost 3D‐Printed Lightbox: A Proof‐of‐Concept Evaluation for Machine Learning–Assisted Analysis

A low‐cost, three‐dimensional‐printed lightbox improved smartphone‐based agar plate imaging by reducing artifacts and enhancing feature visibility. Standardized lightbox images also supported more interpretable QuPath–assisted colony analysis, with exploratory semiautomated counts showing close agreement with manual reference counts.
