Plasma flows and magnetic field interplay during the formation of a pore [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We studied the formation of a pore in AR NOAA 11462. We analysed data obtained with the IBIS at the DST on April 17, 2012, consisting of full Stokes measurements of the Fe I 617.3 nm lines.

The compensating effect of glaciers: Characterizing the relation between interannual streamflow variability and glacier cover

open access: yesHydrological Processes, Volume 34, Issue 3, Page 553-568, 30 January 2020., 2020
The existence of a universal relationship between interannual streamflow variability and glacier cover was tested. A modelling experiment with virtual nested catchments confirmed previously found convex relationship with an optimum glacier cover, where streamflow variability is lowest, although the shape was different.

The galaxy-halo connection from a joint lensing, clustering and abundance analysis in the CFHTLenS/VIPERS field [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We present new constraints on the relationship between galaxies and their host dark matter halos, measured from the location of the peak of the stellar-to-halo mass ratio (SHMR), up to the most massive galaxy clusters at redshift $z\sim0.8$ and over a ...

Histological evidence of reproductive activity in lizards from the APM Manso, Chapada dos Guimarães, Mato Grosso State, Brazil =Evidências histológicas da atividade reprodutiva em lagartos da região da APM Manso, Chapada dos Guimarães, Estado do Mato Grosso, Brasil [PDF]

open access: yesActa Scientiarum: Biological Sciences, 2012
The construction of dams causes major impacts on fauna by changing or eliminating irreversibly their habitats. The resulting changes lead to deep potential modifications on reproductive biology and population structure of lizards, snakes and amphisbaenas.

Prevalence, Pathogenicity, Virulence, Antibiotic Resistance, and Phylogenetic Analysis of Biofilm-Producing Listeria monocytogenes Isolated from Different Ecological Niches in Egypt: Food, Humans, Animals, and Environment [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Serious outbreaks of foodborne disease have been caused by Listeria monocytogenes found in retail delicatessens and the severity of disease is significant, with high hospitalization and mortality rates.

Population genetic structuring in pacu (Piaractus mesopotamicus) across the Paraná-Paraguay basin: evidence from microsatellites [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The Paraná-Paraguay basin encompasses central western Brazil, northeastern Paraguay, eastern Bolivia and northern Argentina. The Pantanal is a flooded plain with marked dry and rainy seasons that, due to its soil characteristics and low declivity, has a ...

Effect of an additional hydrophilic versus hydrophobic coat on the quality of dentinal sealing provided by two-step etchand-rinse adhesives [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
OBJECTIVE: To test the hypothesis that the quality of the dentinal sealing provided by two-step etch-and-rinse adhesives cannot be altered by the addition of an extra layer of the respective adhesive or the application of a more hydrophobic, non-solvated

Age and growth parameters of the dourado Salminus brasiliensis (Cuvier, 1816) from the river Cuiabá, Mato Grosso State, Brazil

open access: yesActa Scientiarum: Biological Sciences, 2016
Age and growth parameters of Salminus brasiliensis (Curvier, 1816) from the Manso Reservoir and from the river Cuiabá are estimated by their fish scales. Sampling was performed between January and December 2006.

Deletion of the Zinc Transporter Lipoprotein AdcAII Causes Hyperencapsulation of Streptococcus pneumoniae Associated with Distinct Alleles of the Type I Restriction-Modification System. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
The capsule is the dominant Streptococcus pneumoniae virulence factor, yet how variation in capsule thickness is regulated is poorly understood. Here, we describe an unexpected relationship between mutation of adcAII, which encodes a zinc uptake ...
