Türkçe’de günlük kullanımda “er” kelimesi, çoğunlukla cinsiyet olarak erkeği cinsiyet anlamı içermeksizin de yaptığı işi en güzel, en mükemmel şekilde yapan kişiyi ifade etmek için kullanılır. Tasavvufta ise er olgusu, örnek kul olma vasfına sahip insân-ı kâmili temsil eden bir kavram olarak kullanılmaktadır.

The 1483 copy of the famous Persian Sufi and poet Farid al-Din Attâr ’s “Mantiq al-Tayr” (The Conference of the Birds) is housed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art (63.210). The miniatures in this manuscript, dated to 1487, are considered masterpieces of 15th-century Herat Miniature Art.
