Anatomy of a Venusian hot spot: Geology, gravity, and mantle dynamics of Eistla Regio
Journal of Geophysical Research: Planets, 1992Eistla Regio is a series of broad swells, each up to a few thousand kilometers in diameter, in the equatorial highlands of Venus. It is characterized by strong positive free‐air gravity anomalies, shield volcanoes, and rift systems. We present a two‐part study of the western and central portions of this Venusian hot spot.

It mentions effects of aging in oceans upon the direction of slope of coastal peneplains. When oceans are young the coasts are cliffs from which peneplains dip downward on the inland side.

SEISMIC ANISOTROPY BENEATH THE CONTINENTS: Probing the Depths of Geology
, 1996Seismic anisotropy beneath continents is analyzed from shear-wave splitting recorded at more than 300 continental seismic stations. Anisotropy is found to be a ubiquitous property that is due to mantle deformation from past and present orogenic activity.
