Experimental production of K-rich metasomes through sediment recycling at the slab-mantle interface in the fore-arc

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2023
Sediment contribution to the mantle is the key step for the generation of orogenic magmatism to produce its isotopic and geochemical inventory. Even though they are exceptional for the post-collisional settings, there are worldwide examples of arc ...

A major element, PGE and Re-Os isotope study of Middle Atlas (Morocco) peridotite xenoliths : evidence for coupled introduction of metasomatic sulphides and clinopyroxene [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We present major element and PGE (platinum-group-element) abundances in addition to Re–Os isotope data for 11 spinel-facies whole rock peridotites from a single maar from the Middle Atlas Mountains, Morocco.

New Insights Into the Cooling of the Oceanic Lithosphere From Surface‐Wave Tomographic Inferences

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 4, 28 February 2026.
Abstract How oceanic plates cool and thicken with age remains a subject to debate, with several thermal models supported by apparently contradictory data. Combining a novel imaging technique that balances resolution and uncertainty with finite‐frequency surface‐wave measurements, we build tomographic model SS3DPacific to revisit the cooling style of ...

Early Eocene Arctic volcanism from carbonate-metasomatized mantle

open access: yesContributions to Mineralogy and Petrology, 2023
AbstractMelilitite, nephelinite, basanite, and alkali basalt, along with phonolite differentiates, form the Freemans Cove Complex (FCC) in the south-eastern extremity of Bathurst Island (Nunavut, Canada). New 40Ar/39Ar chronology indicates their emplacement between ~ 56 and ~ 54 million years ago within a localized extensional structure.

Thallium Isotopes Reveal Brine Activity During Carbonatite Magmatism

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, 2021
Carbonatite volcanism remains poorly understood compared to silicic volcanism due to the scarcity of carbonatite volcanoes worldwide and because volcanic H2O and CO2—major components in carbonatite volcanic systems—are not well preserved in the rock ...

Carboniferous and Permian magmatism in Scotland [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Extensional tectonics to the north of the Variscan Front during the Early Carboniferous generated fault-controlled basins across the British Isles, with accompanying basaltic magmatism.

Multi‐Scale Electrical Conductivity Model of the Contiguous United States

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 4, 28 February 2026.
Abstract The completion of the Magnetotelluric (MT) USArray across the contiguous US enables continental‐scale 3‐D imaging of the asthenosphere‐lithosphere electrical structure. We present a novel 3‐D model of the contiguous United States (MECMUS), derived from a single inversion of the now‐completed USMTArray data set.

Large-scale impregnation of oceanic and continental slab-derived adakitic melts into the mantle wedge

open access: yesCommunications Earth & Environment
Mantle wedge metasomatism is a widespread phenomenon in subduction zones. However, details of early melt generation and the extent of metasomatic processes is unclear.

Tracing the metasomatic and magmatic evolution of continental mantle roots with Sr, Nd, Hf and Pb isotopes : a case study of Middle Atlas (Morocco) peridotite xenoliths [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We studied clinopyroxenes from spinel-facies peridotite xenoliths sampled by the Quaternary intra-plate volcanism of the Middle Atlas (Morocco) and present new trace element and Sr–Nd–Hf isotope data.

Lithospheric Delamination Below the North American Midcontinent Ceased Subsidence in Cratonic Basins

open access: yesAGU Advances, Volume 7, Issue 1, February 2026.
Abstract Cratonic lithospheres carry a long history of tectonic modifications that result in heterogeneous structures, as revealed by an increasing number of geophysical observations. The existence of cratonic basins indicates protracted periods of tectonic modification, causing subsidence within global continental interiors.
