Arch Insect Biochem Physiol1. The brown locust produces the three adipokinetic hormones Locmi‐AKH‐I, ‐II and ‐III found also in the migratory locust. 2. Flight is characterised by differential changes in haemolymph carbohydrate and lipid levels. 3. Modelling ligand‐receptor binding is proposed as important step to a new strategy to combat the brown locust.
