From wasteland to oasis: Transformative effects of trees on farmland and livelihoods
Abstract In face of today's alarming trend of resource degradation and reversal of poverty reduction, path‐breaking strategies are needed. However, there is limited evidence to inform the design of policies. We scrutinized an agricultural development program that follows a holistic approach and includes the cultivation of fruit trees, to tackle this ...

CONFINED ANIMAL PRODUCTION AND MANURE NUTRIENTS [PDF]
Census of agriculture data were used to estimate manure nutrient production and the capacity of cropland and pastureland to assimilate nutrients. Most farms (78 percent for nitrogen and 69 percent for phosphorus) have adequate land on which it is ...

KOH‐Activated Pinecone Biochar for Efficient Chloramphenicol Removal From Aqueous Solutions
Pinecone‐based biochar was synthesized through pyrolysis at 600°C and KOH activation at 800°C under an N2 atmosphere. This process yielded a microporous structure with a significantly enhanced surface area. The biochar was then utilized to remove chloramphenicol (CAP) from aqueous solutions.

Abstract Intercropping banana and shorter annual crops in small holder systems is inevitable despite shade being a limitation. Current production is also limited to the wet seasons. Strategies to exploit the spaces under banana shade and drier seasons are crucial for optimal production of these systems. We determined the performance of two legume cover
