Problems of Recycling Manure for Feed Cattle Manure

American Association of Bovine Practitioners Conference Proceedings, 1975
Animal waste, what is it? I think today we must pretty well accept, based on the data, that it is are source out of place. It is out of place and many times we don't like to fool with it because it is so out of place. Manure to improve feed efficiency of cattle.

Methane productivity of manure, straw and solid fractions of manure

Biomass and Bioenergy, 2004
Abstract The methane productivity of manure in terms of volatile solids (VS), volume and livestock production was determined. The theoretical methane productivity is higher in pig (516 l kg −1 VS ) and sow (530 l kg −1 VS ) manure than in dairy cattle manure (469 l kg −1 VS ) , while the ...

Nitrosation in Feedlot Manure

Environmental Letters, 1972
Abstract Fresh, partially decomposed, and aged manure samples were examined for the presence of nitrates, nitrites and secondary amines, precursors of nitrosamines. Nitrate, nitrite and total amine nitrogen were found in amounts ranging from 53.2 to 202.3 ppm; 37.1 to 51.9 ppm; and 12.7 to 28.4 ppm, respectively.

Manure Management

2007
Water use is essential for all dairies. Drinking water is indispensable for cattlelife; some amount of water is necessary for cleaning and sanitation procedures; moderate amounts are important during periods of heat stress for evaporative cooling of cows to improve animal production and health; additional amounts can be used in labor‐saving methods to ...

Animal Manures as feedstuffs: Poultry manure feeding trials

Agricultural Wastes, 1983
Abstract The utilisation of dried poultry manure as a feedstuff was critically evaluated based upon feeding trial results reported in the literature. The assessment indicated that this material can have value as a feedstuff. The maximum and optimum levels of incorporating dried poultry manure into laying hen and ruminant rations, on the basis of ...

Kinetics of Methane Production from Swine Manure and Buffalo Manure

Applied Biochemistry and Biotechnology, 2015
The degradation kinetics of swine and buffalo manure for methane production was investigated. Six kinetic models were employed to describe the corresponding experimental data. These models were evaluated by two statistical measurements, which were root mean square prediction error (RMSPE) and Akaike's information criterion (AIC).

The Manuring of Tea

Outlook on Agriculture, 1959
Most of the soils on which tea is grown are of low fertility, and high yields cannot be obtained without liberal manuring. Nitrogen is the chief requirement, and its application up to 100 lb. per acre will usually give economic responses from tea in good condition if local needs of phosphate and potash are met.

Manure Management

2009
Animal manure is a well-recognized potential source of a wide variety of infectious agents that can cause disease in humans, directly or indirectly, particularly through consumption of contaminated water or food. Although state regulations and guidance, based on Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) guidelines, are available to assist producers ...
