The effect of debrisoquin on MAO A and MAO B activities

Life Sciences, 1989
To examine the mode of action of debrisoquin (DEB), we studied the effect of this drug in vitro on MAO A and MAO B enzyme activities. DEB was shown to be a competitive inhibitor of highly purified human MAO A and MAO B enzyme activities. DEB inhibited placental MAO A with a Ki value of 0.5 microM and liver MAO B with a Ki value of 8.8 microM, 18-fold ...

Regulation of MAO-A and MAO-B Gene Expression

Current Medicinal Chemistry, 2004
MAO A and B genes are made of 15 exons with identical exon-intron organization. They are located on X-chromosome organized in opposite direction, tail to tail with 24 kb apart. Both promoters are GC-rich and regulated by transcription factor Sp1. However, they have distinctly different features. MAO B gene, but not MAO A gene, has TATA box.

Molecular neuroanatomy of MAO-A and MAO-B

1990
A selective, quantitative and high resolution technique (in vitro and in vivo enzyme radioautography) has been used to reveal the tissue distribution and abundance of MAO-A and MAO-B in the central nervous system and peripheral organs in the rat. The in vitro approach was also used to map the enzymes in human post-mortem brain.
