Polyazimuthal Map Projections

open access: yesKartografija i Geoinformacije, 2019
A polyazimuthal map projection is a mapping that represents parallels as non-concentric full circles on the plane. Polyazimuthal mappings are almost never mentioned in the literature dealing with map projections.

Forecasting the Dialysis Burden in Japan: Validation‐Based Projections of Prevalence and Incidence Through 2050

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Japan has one of the highest dialysis prevalence rates worldwide and a shrinking, aging population. Whether dialysis burden has entered a sustained post‐peak phase or whether recent declines partly reflect pandemic‐related disruptions remains uncertain.

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Map Projections in Wikipedia

open access: yesKartografija i Geoinformacije, 2009
Wikipedia (wiki + encyclopaedia) is a multilingual, web-based encyclopaedia with free content. It is a wiki, which means it is written by numerous volunteers, and most articles can be changed by anyone with Internet access and an adequate web browser ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Optimization Of Conformal Cartographic Projections For The Slovak Republic According To Chebyshev’s Theorem

open access: yesSlovak Journal of Civil Engineering, 2015
Disadvantages of the currently used Křovák’s map projection in the Slovak Republic, such as large scale distortion, became evident after the division of Czechoslovakia.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

State Map Projection in Croatia [PDF]

open access: yesMicro, Macro & Mezzo Geoinformation
One of the basic issues of official cartography is the choice of a national projection, or rather the choice of a national coordinate system. Such a choice was relevant at the beginning of the 20th Century, then with the creation of the Independent State

New insights on the modeling of the molecular mechanisms underlying neural maps alignment in the midbrain

open access: yeseLife, 2020
We previously identified and modeled a principle of visual map alignment in the midbrain involving the mapping of the retinal projections and concurrent transposition of retinal guidance cues into the superior colliculus providing positional information ...

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...
