Heteromastus similis Southern, 1921 (Polychaeta: Capitellidae) in Mar Chiquita brackish coastal lagoon, Argentina

Revista Nerítica, 2022
This paper analyzes the spatial and vertical distribution and describes biological and ecological features o f the capitellid polychaete. He leromas lus similis, in the southern part of Mar Chiquita coastal lagoon, Argentina. Sampling was carried out in three intertidal sand-muddy areas from April 1993 to April 1994.

Feeding ecology of flatfish juveniles (pleuronectiformes) in Mar Chiquita coastal lagoon (Buenos Aires, Argentina)

Estuaries and Coasts, 2001
During a two-year period in Mar Chiquita coastal lagoon (Buenos Aires, Argentina), the diet of juvenileParalichthys orbignyanus andOncopterus darwinii sorted according to size, area, and season was analyzed. Sampling was carried out using a beach seine net in three zones of different salinity.

Phytoplankton Dynamic in Mar Chiquita Coastal Lagoon (Argentina), and its Relationship with Potential Nutrient Sources

Journal of Coastal Research, 2005
Abstract The concentration and distribution of nutrients (nitrate, nitrite, phosphate, silicate) in water, photosynthetic pigments (chlorophyll a and phaeopigments) in suspended particulate matter (SPM), and phytoplankton from Mar Chiquita Coastal Lagoon, in Argentina, was studied along six (6) sampling stations during a year in order to know their ...

Life cycle and population structure of the polychaeteFicopomatus enigmaticus (Serpulidae) in Mar Chiquita coastal lagoon, Argentina

Estuaries and Coasts, 1994
Ficopomatus enigmaticus, a polychaete inhabiting the subtidal zone in the Mar Chiquita coastal lagoon, builds reef-like aggregates that facilitate silt accumulation. To describe the life cycle, samples were take monthly from September 1984 to September 1985.

Modern pollen and vegetation relationships in Mar Chiquita coastal lagoon area, southeastern Pampa grasslands, Argentina

Review of Palaeobotany and Palynology, 2003
Abstract The relationships between vegetation and modern pollen are examined along a coast to inland gradient of plant communities in the Mar Chiquita coastal lagoon area, southeastern Pampa grasslands, Argentina. Local psammophytic, halophytic and freshwater plant communities that develop on coastal barriers, salt marshes and in shallow lakes ...

Influence of complexity and habitat heterogeneity on macrofaunal assemblages provided by an invasive ecosystem engineer in Mar Chiquita coastal lagoon

Estuarine, Coastal and Shelf Science, 2020
Abstract Invasive ecosystem engineers change habitat attributes and species abundance, affecting the structure of invaded communities. In the Mar Chiquita coastal lagoon (37° 40′S, 57° 23°W), the invasive reef-building polychaete Ficopomatus enigmaticus (Fauvel, 1823) generates a heterogeneous environment with habitats of variable complexity: the ...

Trace Metals Occurrence and Geochemical Distribution in Sediments from Mar Chiquita Coastal Lagoon, Argentina

2004
Trace metals have proven to be significantly hazardous pollutants in aquatic environments, even at very low concentrations. In this sense, sediments have been recognised as the most important trace metals reservoir in the ecosphere. The study of their occurrence, distribution and concentration, particularly in marine and/or estuarine sediments, which ...

Molt and growth of an estuarine crab, Chasmagnathus granulatus (Brachyura: Varunidae), in Mar Chiquita coastal lagoon, Argentina

Journal of Applied Ichthyology, 2004
Summary Juvenile and adult growth of Chasmagnathus granulatus was studied in the laboratory in terms of molt increment in size (MI) and the intermolt period (IP), comparing data obtained from short-term (STE) and long-term (LTE) laboratory experiments. Crabs in a pre-molt condition were collected for STE, including the entire size range of the species.
