Industrial inspection of marble tiles

2010
The main scope was the development of support code for a marble tile inspection machine. Marble tiles running on a conveyor belt are captured with a linear CCD camera, and the images are being used for geometrically inspection within 300 msec, which is the available time until the tile reaches the selection mechanism right after the inspection chamber.

Investigations on the Utilization of Marble Waste and Fly Ash in Earthenware Wall Tile Composition

Transactions of the Indian Ceramic Society, 2004
Physicochemical and mineralogical characteristics of the raw materials, viz., clays, fly ash, sandstone and marble waste were studied with a view to finding out their possible utilization in the manufacture of earthenware wall tiles. The studies included plastic and dry properties, particle size distribution, chemical analyses, XRD, DTA as well as ...

Enhancing performance and sustainability of cement mortar tiles with granite dust and marble powder

Environmental Progress & Sustainable Energy
Abstract This study aims to develop sustainable two‐layer cement mortar tiles by incorporating industrial by‐products—granite dust (GD) as a fine aggregate replacement and marble powder (MP) as a partial cement substitute—and to optimize their composition for enhanced performance and reduced environmental impact ...

THz imaging of majolica tiles and biological attached marble fragments

2016
Devices exploiting waves in the frequency range from 0.1 THz to 10 THz (corresponding to a free-space wavelength ranging from 30 ?m to 3 mm) deserve attention as diagnostic technologies for cultural heritage. THz waves are, indeed, non-ionizing radiations capable of penetrating into non-metallic materials, which are opaque to both visible and infrared ...

Discrimination between different art types: Marbled paper, watercolor and tile images

IEEE EUROCON 2009, 2009
In this study, discrimination between different art categories was presented. To be able to classify different art images, features capable of including the characteristic properties of art types were extracted. Extracted features are based on RGB histogram characteristics, coarseness and edge ratio in the images.

Structural analysis of the heat affected zone of marble and limestone tiles cut by CO2 laser

Materials Characterization, 2004
Portugal has a long tradition in high quality ornamental stone production, particularly marble and limestone. Quarrying and transformation of these stones are a major value for the Portuguese economy with an important contribution to its GNP. Laser cutting has been investigated to evaluate its potential in ornamental stone processing.

Marble-Looking Fired Clay Tiles Produced by Utilizing Local Clay and Glass Cullet

Key Engineering Materials
This research is aim at developing marble-looking fired clay tile by utilizing waste glass cullet (CGC) mixed up with local plastic clay, sediment soil, and laterite clay. Boric oxide is also used as sintering aid. The experimental formulation is divided into 3 groups (A, B, and C) with 27 formulas.
