Se describe e ilustra una nueva especie de Schwartzia Vell., S. peruviana Giraldo-Cañas. La nueva especie se conoce únicamente de la región andina de Perú. De acuerdo con los lineamientos de la UICN, la nueva especie debe ser ubicada en la categoría “en peligro” (EN) (AOO= 32 km2 , EOO = 14.994,052 km2 ).
