Extensions of Type G and Marginal Infinite Divisibility

Theory of Probability and Its Applications, 2003
Summary: We say that a random variate on a Euclidean space is marginal infinitely divisible with respect to a class of linear mappings on that space if each of these mappings results in an infinitely divisible random variate. Special cases are applied in a multivariate extension of the concept of type G probability laws.

Fiscal Stimulus and the Extensive Margin [PDF]

open access: possible, 2013
Using VAR analysis on US data, we show that unanticipated fiscal expansions boost private consumption and business formation. Models with an extensive investment margin, i.e. endogenous firm and product entry, have difficulties explaining these two phenomena simultaneously.

TRADE LIBERALIZATION AND THE EXTENSIVE MARGIN

Scottish Journal of Political Economy, 2009
ABSTRACTTrade barriers can lead to the disappearance of products and impose huge costs. Allowing for the realistic possibility that imported products are substituted by domestic varieties this paper finds that the cost of protection that allows for disappearance of products, the ‘Romer cost,’ is higher below a tariff threshold.

CHINA'S EXPORT MARGINS AND THEIR GROWTH SOURCES: AN ANALYSIS OF EXTENSIVE MARGIN AND INTENSIVE MARGIN

The Singapore Economic Review, 2013
Based on the theoretical methods by Feenstra and others, this paper applies the empirical panel data of years 2000–2007 to measure the growth of China's provincial import and export for both extensive and intensive margins. Extensive margin reflecting the level of variety becomes a significant factor for China's export and is slightly higher than ...

Extensive vs. Intensive Margin in Japan [PDF]

open access: possible, 2012
This paper studies the role of extensive and intensive margins of labor adjustment overbusiness cycle in Japan. We find that the intensive margin accounts for much of total hours worked variation, and its contribution to the fluctuation of total hours worked is about 77%. This result is in sharp contrast with those in the U.S.

Recent extensions to seismic margin review methodology

Nuclear Engineering and Design, 1990
Abstract Two seismic margin review methodologies — one by USNRC and the other by EPRI — have been developed in the last four years. The focus is on assessing the capability of existing nuclear power plants to withstand earthquakes larger than the design basis earthquakes.

Diffuse Extension of the Southern Mariana Margin

Journal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, 2018
AbstractExtension within the southern Mariana margin occurs both normal to and parallel to the trench. Trench‐normal extension takes place along focused and broad backarc spreading axes forming crust that is passively accreted to the rigid Philippine Sea plate flank to the northwest.

Extension for prevention: margin placement.

Northwest dentistry, 2012
This article will review the concept of extension for prevention popularized by G.V. Black around the early 1900s. Concepts of extension and prevention have changed over the years with a more informed knowledge of the caries process, improved materials, cutting instruments, and techniques.
