Marginality and Marginalization
2017Marginality and globalization are two terms that were very often used in recent decades not only in geography but in other scientific disciplines as well, not to mention their public presence in all kind of modern media. The purpose of this introductory chapter is to analyze different views of the first one of these two notions and to explain my own ...

This chapter addresses the notion of frontier by presenting our work from a Hungarian-speaking Székely community located at the eastern edge of Transylvania. Few bioarchaeologists are familiar with the Székely population, and virtually all lines of bioarchaeological inquiry are located at the frontier of knowledge production in this area.

Studies in Applied Mathematics, 1982
An analytical and numerical study is presented on the response of high Reynolds number flow when, starting from a fully attached state, it is forced to gradually approach separation as a certain critical parameter is increased. The end of attached flow near a rounded leading edge is the particular problem considered, although the application of the ...

AbstractPurpose Management of malignant eyelid tumors needs to be individualized, taking into account patient factors, tumor characteristics, and histological subtype. Several treatment modalities have been proposed, but surgical excision with monitoring of excision margins has the highest cure rate.

Marginal Texts, Marginal Audiences
2018The rhetoric of antiporn crusaders describes an iceberg whose visible tip is made up of such mild stuff as Playboy centerfolds, but whose lowest depths include such horrors as the infamous Snuff, an Argentine film that purported to show a woman being killed and dismembered on camera.

Platelet marginal bands: not so marginal
Blood, 2008Much has been learned about the dynamics of platelet biogenesis. However, the dynamics of the cytoskeletal engine in live platelets have not been thoroughly investigated until recently.

Marginal Cost Pricing Under Bounded Marginal Returns
Econometrica, 1992Summary: While there are now many results on the existence of marginal cost pricing equilibrium, we argue that they are unsatisfactory in one important respect. They typically make a survival assumption which is stated as a condition on the production equilibria of the economy. The primary objective of this paper is to provide an existence result which

Marginalization Among the Marginalized
Journal of Homosexuality, 2002Contemporary research has shown that a significant portion of gay men have traits, interests, occupations, and behaviors that are consistent with the stereotype of gay men as effeminate, androgynous, or unmasculine. A great number of gay men exhibit gender nonconformity during childhood; most, however, "defeminize" during adolescence, possibly in ...
