Iflaviruses in arthropods: when small is mighty
Insect Science, EarlyView.Many arthropod species harbor iflaviruses, which often cause covert (asymptomatic) infections, but may still affect host fitness. We review the impact of iflaviruses on arthropod fitness, immunity, behaviour as well as the iflavirus’ host range, transmission, tissue tropism and the interactions with other microorganisms within arthropods.

Middlebrow Culture and Mary Lavin’s Short Stories in The New Yorker
Irish University Review, 2022 This essay, informed by scholarship on middlebrow culture, places Mary Lavin’s stories in the textual space of The New Yorker, reassessing the supposed ‘conservatism’ of her short fiction. Lavin’s literary fame has often been marred by her perceived conservative streaks – in terms of her literary sensibility and her gender politics.

Cancer Science, EarlyView.A whole‐exome sequencing–based mutational signature biomarker (MSBM) identified an HRD‐enriched population in advanced ovarian cancer. In a phase II trial, olaparib maintenance suggested clinically meaningful PFS benefit without bevacizumab, supporting MSBM as a complementary HRD assessment approach.
