Cumulative effect of multiple health and social factors on adolescent mental well‐being: a cross‐sectional study in Catalonia

open access: yesChild and Adolescent Mental Health, EarlyView.
Background While numerous studies have explored factors contributing to poor mental health, few have examined the combined influence of multiple health and social factors and their cumulative effect. This study specifically aimed to analyze the cumulative effect of multiple health and social factors associated with poor mental well‐being in school‐aged

CRISPR Activation Reveals the Spliceogenicity of an Intronic NEB Variant in Fetuses With Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congenita 6

open access: yesClinical Genetics, EarlyView.
CRISPR activation of NEB in fibroblasts, followed by RNA‐sequencing, documents spliceogenic effects of a NEB intronic variant. The assay enabled variant reclassification as likely pathogenic, providing molecular diagnosis in fetuses with Arthrogryposis multiplex congenita 6.

The Becoming of Children and Caregiving Fathers—A Video Ethnography of Individual Parent Conversations at Swedish Child Health Centres

open access: yesChildren &Society, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The current study explores conversations fathers and nurses at Swedish Child Health Centres. Video‐ethnographic methods allow for the analysis of naturally occurring interaction and the analysis focuses on how the participants address fathers' accounts of inadequacy and being secondary to the mother in terms of being able to provide care and ...

Unlocking female CEOs' contribution to the internationalization of family‐controlled firms

open access: yesEuropean Management Review, EarlyView.
Abstract Are female CEOs better or worse than male CEOs for the internationalization of family‐controlled firms? By addressing this question, we draw on Upper Echelons Theory (UET) and complement it with insights from the Behavioral Theory of the Firm (BTF) to examine the moderating role of governance and ownership openness. Using a large panel of 2150

Enzymatic synthesis of bioactive quinolones and (thio)coumarins by fungal type III polyketide synthases

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Quinolones are valuable scaffolds for drug discovery but are rare in nature. Here, we show that two fungal enzymes, AthePKS and FerePKS, can generate 2‐quinolones and two additional heteroaromatic scaffolds. Using AthePKS, we designed an artificial enzymatic cascade towards an antimicrobial quinolone from a simple precursor and implemented it in E ...

Energetic stress in combination with impaired fatty acid oxidation induces sequestration of CoA and adaptation of CoA metabolism

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Computational modelling and in vitro liver cell experiments indicate that medium‐chain acyl‐CoA dehydrogenase (MCAD) deficiency causes an accumulation of (especially medium‐chain) acyl‐CoAs at the cost of free CoA (CoASH). A substantial decrease in CoASH impairs flux through many pathways essential for energy homeostasis.
