Epistolary writing consists of contemporary testimonies of political and cultural events and linguistic usages and it is vital to have access to good editions. There are two main groups of epistolary writing: informal and official letters. This article focuses on the characteristics of an official letter from the late 17th century.

Las regencias de Luísa de Gusmão y Mariana de Austria marcaron un hito fundamental en la historia política y diplomática de las monarquías ibéricas. Luísa gobernó en Portugal entre 1656 y 1662, y Mariana fue regente de España entre 1665 y 1675. A lo largo de varios años, ambas mujeres tuvieron que hacer frente a problemáticas comunes.
