Interventional Treatment of Cardiac Emergencies in Children with Congenital Heart Diseases

open access: yesJournal of Cardiovascular Emergencies, 2019
Cardiac emergencies in children represent an extremely important issue in medical practice. In general, interventional treatment could be optional in many situations, however it can be indicated in emergency conditions.

Frontal Eye Field, Where Art Thou? Anatomy, function and non-invasive manipulation of frontal regions involved in eye movements and associated cognitive operations

open access: yesFrontiers in Integrative Neuroscience, 2014
The planning, control and execution of eye movements in 3D space relies on a distributed system of cortical and subcortical brain regions. Within this network, the Eye Fields have been described in animals as cortical regions in which electrical ...

Characterization of Defect Distribution in an Additively Manufactured AlSi10Mg as a Function of Processing Parameters and Correlations with Extreme Value Statistics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Predicting extreme defects in additive manufacturing remains a key challenge limiting its structural reliability. This study proposes a statistical framework that integrates Extreme Value Theory with advanced process indicators to explore defect–process relationships and improve the estimation of critical defect sizes. The approach provides a basis for

Printed Integrated Logic Circuits Based on Chitosan‐Gated Organic Transistors for Future Edible Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Edible electronics needs integrated logic circuits for computation and control. This work presents a potentially edible printed chitosan‐gated transistor with a design optimized for integration in circuits. Its implementation in integrated logic gates and circuits operating at low voltage (0.7 V) is demonstrated, as well as the compatibility with an ...

Counterion Dependent Side‐Chain Relaxation Stiffens a Chemically Doped Thienothiophene Copolymer

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Oxidation of a thienothiophene copolymer, p(g3TT‐T2), via different doping strategies and dopant molecules resulted in materials with similar oxidation levels and a high electrical conductivity of ≈100 S cm−1. However, mechanical properties varied significantly, with sub‐glass transition temperatures and elastic moduli spanning from –44°C to –3°C and ...

CHRONIC CONSTIPATION IN CHILDREN. AN UPDATE ON EVALUATION AND MANAGEMENT [PDF]

open access: yesRomanian Journal of Pediatrics, 2015
Constipation is a common problem in childhood, with a children prevalence varying between 0.7% and 29.6%. Constipation is encountered in all pediatric age groups, with variably severity and duration, from mild and short to severe and chronic forms ...

X‐Functionality–Driven Photocatalytic Hydrogen Evolution in 2D 4‐X‐PEA2SnI4 Perovskites

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We report a water‐based synthesis of 2D 4‐X‐PEA2SnI4 perovskite microcrystals with prominent photocatalytic (PC) activity for H2 production. The synergy between organic functionalization and HI‐derived iodide scavenges holes suppress octahedral distortion, and favor electron accumulation, enabling a PC H2 evolution ∼20 µmol·g−1 and long‐term stability ...

Quantifying Subsurface Weak in‐Plane Magnetization of Mixed Phase BiFeO3 by Scanning Nitrogen Vacancy Magnetometry

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We use scanning nitrogen vacancy magnetometry to directly image the weak in‐plane magnetic moments in mixed phase BiFeO3 at the nanoscale and quantify the local magnetic moments to be 18.8±2.0 μB/nm2 in the rhombohedral‐like phase and 1.5±0.6 μB/nm2 in the well‐known non‐magnetic tetragonal‐like phase.
