Marijuana and tobacco smoke gas-phase cytotoxins

To evaluate the in vivo versus in vitro paradoxical effects of marijuana and tobacco smoke on pulmonary defenses, the responses to smoke constituents were assessed with an alveolar macrophage tissue culture bioassay. A dose-response impairment of macrophage bactericidal activity was associated with water-soluble, gas-phase constituents.

‘Hangover’ effects the morning after marijuana smoking

Thirteen male marijuana smokers participated in a study to determine whether marijuana smoked in the evening would result in measurable subjective or other behavioral effects the following morning. Subjects smoked either active (2.9% delta 9THC) or placebo (0.0% delta 9THC) marijuana cigarettes according to a standardized smoking regimen.

Based on previously published studies, this review describes the pulmonary consequences of marijuana smoking. Smoking of marijuana is significantly associated with chronic bronchitis (cough and phlegm), but it has not been firmly established whether it also leads to a reduction in lung function.

Marijuana smoking and cold tolerance in man.

Ten men who were marijuana users served as subjects in a study of the effects of marijuana smoking on response to cold. Cold water (28 degrees C for 60 min) and cold air (20 degrees C for 120 min) mediums were utilized with three exposures in each medium.
