Dynamics of biotic resistance to plant invasions

open access: yesBiological Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Biotic resistance, the reduction in invasion success caused by native communities, plays an important role in the long‐term dynamics of biological invasions. A large body of empirical research on biotic resistance has accumulated since the last comprehensive review on the subject 20 years ago, enabling us to achieve a refined understanding of ...

Hyperbolic-parabolic singular perturbation for mildly degenerate Kirchhoff equations: time-decay estimates

open access: yes, 2008
We consider the second order Cauchy problem $$u_\epsilon''+u_\epsilon'+m{|A^1/2 u_\epsilon|}Au_\epsilon=0, u_\epsilon(0)=u_0, u_\epsilon'(0)=u_1,$$ and the first order limit problem $$u'+m{|A^1/2u|}Au=0, u(0)=u_0,$$ where $\epsilon>0$, $H$ is a Hilbert ...

Navigating the Double Edge of Product‐Service Systems: User Behavior, Adoption, and Rebound Effects

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Product‐service systems (PSS) have been considered a promising approach to operationalizing the circular economy. Although many studies have outlined the potential sustainability gains of PSS solutions, it is still unclear what factors drive PSS adoption and how behavioral changes result in rebound effects, undermining their potential ...

Continuità della soluzione di una disequazione variazionale associata ad un operatore ellittico a coefficienti discontinui

open access: yes, 2010
We prove existence, uniqueness and continuity for solutions of a class of variational inequalities associated to elliptic operators with discontinuous coefficients.

Spectrum of a non-self-adjoint operator associated with the periodic heat equation

open access: yes, 2008
We study the spectrum of the linear operator L=−∂θ−ϵ∂θ(sinθ∂θ) subject to the periodic boundary conditions on θ∈[−π,π]. We prove that the operator is closed in Lper2([−π,π]) with the domain in Hper1([−π,π]) for |ϵ|

The Role of Institutional Pressures in Technology Adoption for Low‐Carbon Manufacturing

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Existing research highlights that the adoption of low‐carbon technologies in manufacturing operations is shaped by the external environment. However, limited understanding exists regarding how technology‐related uncertainty interacts with institutional pressures to influence firms' adoption strategies.

Hölder continuous solutions for tempered fractional equations and maximal regularity. [PDF]

open access: yes
We characterize the Hölder regularity in time of classical solutions for a class of nonlocal abstract equations in terms of resolvent estimates of the underlying operator, thus including in our approach those recently incorporated into the literature ...

Evaluation of Fractional Integrals and Derivatives of Elementary Functions: Overview and Tutorial [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Several fractional-order operators are available and an in-depth knowledge of the selected operator is necessary for the evaluation of fractional integrals and derivatives of even simple functions.

High‐Temperature Heat Pump Test Bench with n‐Butane (R‐600) Generating Steam

open access: yesChemie Ingenieur Technik, EarlyView.
This work involves building a test bench for a high‐temperature heat pump (HTHP) and analyzing the measurements. The focus is on steam generation using an HTHP to decarbonize process steam demand. The findings indicate that stable steam generation is possible, providing a higher heat transfer coefficient in the heat pump's condenser.
