ANTIFOULING ACTIVITY OF BACTERIA ASSOCIATED WITH SOFT CORAL Sarcophyton sp. AGAINST MARINE BIOFILMFORMING BACTERIA [PDF]
Marine bacteria associated with soft coral Sarcophyton sp collected from vicinity of Peucang island, Ujung Kulon, West Java, were successfully screened for antifouling activity against marine biofilm-forming bacteria isolated from the surrounding ...

Prevention of marine biofouling for ocean instruments:

Natural antifouling compound production by microbes associated with marine macroorganisms — A review
In the marine environment, all hard surfaces including marine macroorganims are colonized by microorganisms mainly from the surrounding environment. The microorganisms associated with marine macroorganisms offer tremendous potential for exploitation of ...

Abstract Methods using environmental nucleic acids have become highly effective for monitoring aquatic biodiversity, with an array of suitable use cases, including metrics for fisheries assessment. Traditional methods for assessing fish populations often rely on invasive techniques with limited spatial and temporal coverage.

Biofouling and its control for in situ lab-on-a-chip marine environmental sensors
Biofouling is the process by which biological organisms attach to surfaces in an aqueous environment. This occurs on nearly all surfaces in all natural aquatic environments, and can cause problems with the functioning of scientific equipment exposed to ...

Holdfast adhesion in the kelp Alaria marginata: Cell wall polysaccharides and phenolics
Abstract Adhesion is a critical process in the survival of seaweeds, especially in wave‐swept environments. Kelp (Laminariales) sporophytes secrete adhesives from specialized rhizoid cells to anchor themselves to the substrate and withstand immense forces applied by waves.

Abstract Introduction Seagrass restoration efforts are being implemented globally to accelerate the slow natural recolonization success. Among the various existing methods, seed‐based approaches offer the greatest scalability for species like Zostera marina, yet these methods remain undeveloped for a number of sub‐tidal systems like the Baltic Sea ...
