The characteristics of squall lines in the Southeast Asia region
Squall lines over the Maritime Continent were analysed using 20 years of IMERG GPM data and classified into four regional clusters. Significant regional differences were found in their size, intensity, lifespan, and propagation. Nighttime squall lines are primarily driven by the convergence of opposing offshore flows and the convergence of monsoonal ...

Diagnosing the 11‐year solar cycle's influence on the East Atlantic pattern
A previously unidentified solar‐cycle response in the East Atlantic pattern is found in late winter at lag +3 years with larger amplitude than the NAO response. A statistically significant NAO response to the solar cycle is seen in late winter at lag 0 years.

Actuation Strategies for Underwater Jet‐Propelled Soft Robots
ABSTRACT This review article examines jet‐propulsion mechanisms in underwater soft robotic systems, focusing exclusively on physically fabricated and experimentally validated robots. Covering research published from 2013 to 2025, this study classifies and evaluates jet‐propulsion robots based on their actuation mechanisms.

On some diminutive types of Tasmanian stone implements [PDF]
It is the object of this paper to attempt to give a detailed description of some of the smaller forms of stone implements made by the extinct Tasmanians, which, on account of their comparative scarcity and diminutive size, have hitherto not figured ...

ABSTRACT Exhaustive long‐term and large‐scale ice jam records are scarce in most cold river environments. Many discrete events occur in small, sparsely populated river systems and are poorly represented in open‐source databases. These observation biases are transferred to predictive models of ice jams and the collective understanding of their formation

Sponges - systematics, as pests of molluscs, agents of bioerosion and a source of bioactive compounds [PDF]
This paper on sponges deals mainly with 1) systematics, 2) as pests oj molluscs and agents oj bioerosion and 3) as a source of bioactive compounds. Sponges have many physical and physiological peculiarilies not seen in other animal groups, and hence ...

Contrasting the synoptic drivers of the UK heatwaves of 1976, 2003, 2018 and 2022
UK summer heatwaves are dictated by the polar jet stream position and sea surface temperature (SST) variability, affecting the Summer North Atlantic Oscillation (SNAO) index. The SNAO can determine and influence the Central England Precipitation (CEP) and Central England Temperature (CET).
