Over the period 1901-2012, the average global sea surface temperature has increased by 0.89 °C due to climate change and it is expected to increase consistent with global warming. As a consequence, marine ecosystems have become more susceptible to change

Substantial cooling effect from aerosol-induced increase in tropical marine cloud cover [PDF]
With global warming currently standing at approximately +1.2 °C since pre-industrial times, climate change is a pressing global issue. Marine cloud brightening is one proposed method to tackle warming through injecting aerosols into marine clouds to ...

Climate warming could weaken aerosol-cloud interactions in subtropical marine stratocumulus
Radiative effects of aerosol-cloud interactions constitute the most uncertain climate forcing of the Earth system. To understand how these interactions may change with climate, we conduct 3-day-long large-eddy simulations of a stratocumulus-to-cumulus ...

Radiative forcing from the 2020 shipping fuel regulation is large but hard to detect
Reduction in aerosol cooling unmasks greenhouse gas warming, exacerbating the rate of future warming. The strict sulfur regulation on shipping fuel implemented in 2020 (IMO2020) presents an opportunity to assess the potential impacts of such emission ...

Effects of intermittent aerosol forcing on the stratocumulus-to-cumulus transition [PDF]
We explore the role of intermittent aerosol forcing (e.g., injections associated with marine cloud brightening) in the stratocumulus-to-cumulus transition (SCT).

Marine cloud brightening (MCB) has been proposed as a backup method to mitigate some impacts of global warming. Cloud albedo can be increased over ocean or land either intentionally or unintentionally.

Climate impacts of marine cloud brightening
Marine Cloud Brightening (MCB) is one of several Solar Radiation Management (SRM) geoengineering schemes that have been proposed to counter the global warming associated with climate change.

Abstract. We introduce a new framework for defining marine stratocumulus cloud morphologies using a ternary diagram. A ternary diagram is a triangular representation of three components, with each vertex corresponding to 100% of one component, and any point within the triangle representing a mixture of all three that sums to 100%.
