International Shipbuilding Progress, 1968
In order to calculate exhaust noise spectra (on e.g. bridge wings) a simple mathematical model is given of a large turbo-supercharged marine diesel engine as a source of sound, connected to an exhaust system with or without muffler. The exhaust gas turbines are considered as high internal impedance sound sources.

Marine Propulsion Diesel Engine Progress
SAE Technical Paper Series, 1988<div class="htmlview paragraph">As a designer and licensor of both two-stroke crosshead and medium speed trunk piston diesel engines, MAN B&W offers the industry engines in the power range from approx. 600 HP up to some 64,000 HP per unit. Whereas the four-stroke engine programme embodies engines with power outputs of up to some 19,000 HP

Marine Diesel Engine Oil Condition Monitoring
2022Diesel engines power the vast majority of the global merchant marine fleet. Both two-stroke and four-stroke designs can be found in the fleet, burning fuels ranging from the heavy residual types to light distillates. The lubricating oils in these engines face many challenges, not least from varying fuel quality and diverse operating conditions.

Diesel Fuels in Marine Operations
1954There are a variety of diesel engines Used in marine service, ranging from small life boat and generator engines up to high horsepower, low-speed, main propulsion units having cylinder diameters of 30 in. or more. In a particular ship, moreover, several sizes of engines are generally used, one for propulsion, and others for the various auxiliary uses ...

OPERATIONAL EXPERIENCES WITH MARINE DIESEL ENGINES
Industrial Lubrication and Tribology, 1972A RECENT paper given to The Institute of Marine Engineers by Comm. K. I. Short, O.B.E., D.S.C., R.N., was concerned with operational experiences with medium speed Diesel engines and referred to several instances in which lubrication design could be improved. His first comments referred to lubricating oil pumps.

Jet Assist for Turbocharged Marine Diesels
SAE Technical Paper Series, 1963<div class="htmlview paragraph">This paper discusses the use of jet assist to overcome deficiencies of a turbocharger at times when it is unable to deliver sufficient air to an engine for the fuel required. The jet assist can be divided into two classifications-compressor side assist or turbine side assist.</div> <div class="htmlview ...
