Computer simulation of imaging ocean wave fields with a marine radar
'Challenges of Our Changing Global Environment'. Conference Proceedings. OCEANS '95 MTS/IEEE, 2002Imaging of the ocean wave field with a nautical radar is strongly influenced by shadowing, creating nonlinearity. Therefore, besides the fundamental mode, harmonics of the imaged wave field are generated at the image spectrum. It is shown that it is possible to identify the different modes of the wavenumber-frequency spectrum.

Retrieval of ocean surface wave fields using marine radar-image sequences
IEEE International IEEE International IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2004. IGARSS '04. Proceedings. 2004, 2004This paper describes and validates an empirical method for inversion of marine radar-image sequences to time series of ocean surface wave fields without calibration. External sensors are not required. The radar system can measure as a stand-alone device.

Semantic Segmentation of Marine Radar Images using Convolutional Neural Networks
OCEANS 2019 - Marseille, 2019Marine radar is essential for ship navigation and control. Several studies exist that are focused on eliminating unwanted noise signals to properly detect targets in radar images. However, in general, radar image processing techniques are sensitive to radar sensor specifications and operating conditions, and ad-hoc image preprocessing steps are ...

Radar Image Simulation Based on 3D Scene Database in Marine Simulator
2009 International Conference on Computational Intelligence and Software Engineering, 2009The existing methods of radar image simulation in marine simulator are mainly based on the 2d electronic chart, which may lead to some differences between the simulated image and the real radar image. Radar image simulation based on 3d scene database is proposed.

Study On Directional Spectrum Characteristics Of Marine Radar Images Of Ocean Waves
International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 'Remote Sensing: Moving Toward the 21st Century'., 2005A nmrical scheme IS developed to compute integral characteristics of the 2D wavenumber spectrum of radar ocean wave images collected in polar coordinates (range and azimuth). The directional spectrum characteristics include mean wavenmer, mean direction, minim and maximum rms wavenumers and principal d irection.

An alternative method for surface current extraction from X-band marine radar images
2014 IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2014In this paper, a novel current inversion algorithm from X-band marine radar images is proposed. The routine begins with a 3D-FFT of the radar image sequence, followed by the extraction of the dispersion shell from the 3-D image spectrum. After a polar coordinate transformation, the "polar current shell" is then analyzed to retrieve current information ...
