Designing a Decision Support System for Marine Reserves Management: An Economic Analysis for the Dutch North Sea [PDF]

open access: yes
In this paper we discuss how a Decision Support System (DSS) for managing the marine environment can be set up. We use the Driving force-Pressure-State-Impact-Respond (DPSIR) framework to analyze which are the major driving forces impacting upon the ...

Effects of Lycium barbarum Residue Substituting Dietary Maize on Fecal Microbiota and Growth Performance of Crossbred Simmental Cattle

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
The bioactive substances we extracted from Lycium barbarum residue (LBR) have a typical polysaccharide structure. When 1.80% LBR was used to replace maize in the diet, the average daily gain of rossbred Simmental was significantly increased, and anti‐inflammatory ability was improved. In addition, LBR improved the fecal microbial composition, increased

Saving the Seas: The Economic Justification for Marine Reserves [PDF]

open access: yes
We contribute to the understanding of marine reserves and the management of renewable resources with uncertainty. We show that the key benefit of reserves is that they increase resilience, or the speed it takes a population to return to a former state ...

Investigating the Heat Stability and Inactivation Conditions of Decapod Iridescent Virus 1 (DIV1)

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
Heat treatment effectively inactivates decapod iridescent virus 1 (DIV1) under milder conditions than current WOAH recommendations. DIV1 infectivity was eliminated at 56°C for 30 min, 60°C for 15 min, or 70°C for 1 min, providing optimized heat treatment strategies for aquaculture biosecurity and seafood safety.

Reserves marines i turisme

open access: yes, 2015

Use of Clotrimazole in Finfish Aquaculture: Mechanistic Insights, Limitations, and Future Directions for Antifungal Therapy

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
This review critically evaluates clotrimazole as a potential antifungal for finfish aquaculture, highlighting strong mechanistic and in vitro efficacy against aquatic mycoses alongside major gaps in in vivo evidence, toxicokinetics, residue safety, and environmental risk, outlining priorities for responsible therapeutic development and regulatory ...

COMMENT: MARINE RESERVES: WILL THEY ACCOMPLISH MORE WITH MANAGEMENT COSTS? [PDF]

open access: yes
Hannesson (Marine Resource Economics 13(3) 1998) takes a critical approach to marine protected areas (MPAs) using simulations of MPAs combined with open access.
