Riser Dynamic Analysis Using WKB-Based Dynamic Stiffness Method [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Risers are fluid conduits from subsea equipment to surface floating production platforms. The integrity of a riser system plays a very important role in deepwater developments. Riser dynamic analysis is an important part to the system design.

Numerical investigation on VIV suppression of marine riser with triangle groove strips attached on its surface

open access: yesInternational Journal of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, 2019
The effects of Triangle Groove Strips (TGS) on Vortex-induced Vibration (VIV) suppression of marine riser are numerically investigated using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) method. The range of Reynolds number in simulations is 4.0 × 104 < Re

Electrochemical Behavior of Flame‐Sprayed Sc‐Doped AlCoCrFeMo High‐Entropy Alloy Coatings in 3.5% Sodium Chloride Solution

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Scandium (Sc)‐doped AlCoCrFeMo HEA coatings are fabricated via flame spraying with 0.1, 0.3, and 0.5 wt% Sc additions. Among these, the HEA‐Sc0.3 coating exhibits the highest corrosion resistance, indicated by a more positive corrosion potential and lower current density.

Fatigue damage assessment of offshore riser subjected to vortex-induced vibrations by SHEAR7

open access: yesInternational Journal of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, 2022
Marine risers are a critical component in transporting the produced hydrocarbons from the seabed to the topside facility and vice versa. These risers are subjected to VIV when encountered with ocean currents, leading to the accumulation of fatigue damage,

Low Cycle Repetitive Loading of Ti‐6Al‐4V‐Epoxy Composite Lattice Structures for Enhanced Energy Dissipation and Damage Tolerance

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Composite Ti–6Al–4V–epoxy lattice structures are additively manufactured and epoxy infiltrated for cyclic loading. At low lattice volume fractions, hybridization produces synergistic gains in stiffness and energy dissipation. At higher volume fractions, synergy diminishes, although composites still exceed metallic lattices in specific energy ...

Influence of Si Content and Milling Duration on the Microstructure and Mechanical–Tribological Properties of AlCoCrFeNiSi High‐Entropy Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Si‐doped AlCoCrFeNi high‐entropy alloys are synthesized by mechanical alloying to reveal the effect of Si content and milling time on phase evolution, microstructural refinement, and tribological behavior. A transition from FCC to BCC structure, significant grain refinement, and enhanced hardness and wear resistance are achieved, with the 4 at% Si ...
