Joint analysis of mark—recapture, resighting and ring-recovery data with age-dependence and marking-effect [PDF]

open access: yesBird Study, 1999
Using the joint analysis of live-recapture and ring-recovery data described by Burnham in 1993, we generalize it to the case where resightings of live birds are also reported between capture periods. Explicit estimators under 'random' temporary emigration correspond to those suggested by Jolly in 1965.

Application of network theory to mark recapture data allows insights into population structure of two Heliconius species [PDF]

open access: yesNetwork Biology, 2015
By noting the spatial location of captured individuals mark-recapture studies create a collection of discrete events spread in space and time. This setup is appropriate for network modeling where the vertices (or nodes) are the points of capture and ...

Estimating population parameters of longsnout seahorses, Hippocampus reidi (Teleostei: Syngnathidae) through mark-recapture

open access: yesNeotropical Ichthyology, 2017
Estimating population parameters is essential for understanding the ecology of species, which ultimately helps to assess their conservation status. The seahorse Hippocampus reidi is directly exposed to anthropogenic threats along the Brazilian coast, but

Diversity and Biomass of Terrestrial Small Mammals at A Malaysian Primary Rainforest (Segari Melintang Forest Reserve, Peninsular Malaysia) [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Tropical Life Science, 2015
Despite their importance for the rain forest ecosystem, it is still not much known about the community composition of small frugivorous mammals in West-Malaysian forests.

Temporal Variability in Effective Size (N̂e) Identifies Potential Sources of Discrepancies Between Mark Recapture and Close Kin Mark Recapture Estimates of Population Abundance

open access: yesMolecular Ecology Resources
ABSTRACTAlthough efforts to estimate effective population size, census size and their ratio in wild populations are expanding, few empirical studies investigate interannual changes in these parameters. Hence, we do not know how repeatable or representative many estimates may be. Answering this question requires studies of long‐term population dynamics.

Beyond survival estimation: mark-recapture, matrix population models, and population dynamics [PDF]

open access: yesAnimal Biodiversity and Conservation, 2004
Survival probability is of interest primarily as a component of population dynamics. Only when survival estimates are included in a demographic model are their population implications apparent.

Mark-recapture and behavioral ecology: a case study of Cliff Swallows [PDF]

open access: yesAnimal Biodiversity and Conservation, 2004
Mark–recapture and the statistical analysis methods associated with it offer great potential for investigating fitness components associated with particular behavioral traits. However, few behavioral ecologists have used these techniques.
