After the Fire, Hope Springs Eternal: Movements and Body Condition of Hermann's Tortoises in a Devastated Landscape

Rapid assessment of the delayed impacts of fires on endangered species is essential for accurately guiding conservation efforts. After the fire, surviving Hermann's tortoises (Testudo hermanni) showed only minor behavior alterations, and burnt habitats continued to provide them with essential resources.
