Tests of the Efficient Markets Hypothesis

open access: yesAustrian Journal of Statistics, 2016
This paper surveys various statistical methods that have been proposed for the examination of the efficiency of financial markets and proposes a novel procedure for testing the predictability of a time series. For illustration, this procedure is applied to Austrian stock return series.

Highly‐Entangled Hydrogel Electrolyte for Fast Charging/Discharging Properties in Aqueous Zinc Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A highly‐entangled polyacrylamide (HE‐PAM) hydrogel is designed as an aqueous electrolyte for the fast charging/discharging properties in Zn/MnO2 batteries. Such hydrogel electrolyte possessed excellent mechanical characters, stable cycling capability, and superb rate performance under high current densities. These characters can also be applied in the

Bioresorbable and Wireless Rechargeable Implanted Na‐ion Battery for Temporary Medical Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An all‐solid‐state bioresorbable Na‐ion battery is developed, composed entirely of bio‐eliminable materials. In vivo and ex vivo tests confirmed harmless disintegration of this implanted battery. Lifetime of the implanted battery can be precisely controlled by adjusting the dissolvable encapsulation layer's thickness.

International Stock Market Efficiency: A Non-Bayesian Time-Varying Model Approach

open access: yes, 2014
This paper develops a non-Bayesian methodology to analyze the time-varying structure of international linkages and market efficiency in G7 countries. We consider a non-Bayesian time-varying vector autoregressive (TV-VAR) model, and apply it to estimate ...

Surface Reconstruction Induced by Preconditioning in Different Electrolytes Impacts Electrooxidation of Solketal on Multi‐Metal‐Based Catalysts

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The electrocatalytic activity and stability of CoNiFeCu (1:1:1:0.5) toward glycerol and solketal electrooxidation are strongly impacted by the electrolyte composition used during the catalyst activation. Solketal tends to inhibit oxyhydroxide formation and suppresses Cu leaching, leading to increased activity while also supporting increased production ...

Predicting 2D Crystal Packing in Thin Films of Small Molecule Organic Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A computational method is proposed for predicting the 2D molecular packing in crystalline thin films of flexible organic molecules. The approach employs a grid search for molecular arrangements, achieving accurate predictions of 2D packing motifs with strongly reduced computational costs.
