Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.

From Clinic to Computation: Multiscale Bioengineering Strategies for Durable Biological Aortic Valve Replacements

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Bioprosthetic aortic valves have revolutionized the treatment of aortic stenosis, but their durability is limited by structural valve deterioration (SVD). This review focuses on the pericardial tissue at the heart of these valves, examining how its mechanical properties and calcification drive fatigue and failure.

Enhanced Li‐Ion Battery Performance with Hybrid MXene/GnR Electrodes: Heterojunctions and Engineered Architectures Supported by DFT Mechanistic Studies for Improved Rate Performance, Stability & Capacity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Lithium‐ion batteries (LIBs) remain central to energy storage but suffer from slow ion transport and degradation. Here, we present a binder‐free Ti3C2Tx MXene/GnR hybrid electrode with a porous 3D architecture formed via freeze casting. The structure enhances conductivity, ion transport, and stability, delivering 401 mAh/g, ∼97% efficiency, and 92 ...

Asian market microstructure

open access: yesInternational Review of Financial Analysis, 2006
Along with the rapidly burgeoning Asian economy, the financial markets in the region have seen spectacular development during the past few decades. Several recent statistics will best illustrate their success. Net capital flows to Asia and Pacific over 1999 to 2003 constituted 40% of total flows to emerging markets and about 13.9% of the world's FDI ...

GTH-Net: A Dynamic Game-Theoretic HyperNetwork for Non-Stationary Financial Time Series Forecasting

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Financial time series forecasting remains a challenging task due to the high non-stationarity and concept drift inherent to market data. Existing deep learning models, such as LSTMs and transformers, typically employ static weights after training ...

Toward Stable Multivalent Metal Batteries: Understanding the Interfacial Chemistry for Magnesium and Calcium Metal Anodes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Interphase chemistry governs the stability of multivalent metal batteries. We summarize state‐of‐the‐art developments in calcium and magnesium metal batteries by focusing on the correlation among electrolytes, interphase layers, and the electrochemical performance of corresponding metal anodes.

A Score-Driven Conditional Correlation Model for Noisy and Asynchronous Data: an Application to High-Frequency Covariance Dynamics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The analysis of the intraday dynamics of correlations among high-frequency returns is challenging due to the presence of asynchronous trading and market microstructure noise.
