Is an Apple an Orange? A Large Language Model Benchmark for Candidate Term Extraction and Subclass Decisions Against Upper Ontologies in Engineering and Materials Science

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Building machine‐readable vocabularies for materials science is slow, expert‐driven work. This study benchmarks 13 large language models on two of its first steps: finding candidate terms in engineering articles and deciding where they belong in a class hierarchy.

Diaspora networks in international marketing: How do ethnic products diffuse to foreign markets?

open access: yesEuropean J. of International Management, 2019
While diaspora networks can be instrumental for diffusion, their 'all-in-one' role has remained underexplored in international marketing management literature. Diaspora actors function as part of the channel system, diffusing ethnic products and creating

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.

Cost of Distribution of Market Poultry Products

open access: yesJournal of the American Association of Instructors and Investigators of Poultry Husbandry, 1917
Abstract A discussion of the costs of distribution for market poultry products must necessarily begin with a clear definition of the operations which shall be considered as disributive operations. In all trading, there are two distinct necessities; first, the product to be sold; second, the customer, to whom it is to be sold.

Selling vertically differentiated products under one channel or two? A quality segmentation model for differentiated distribution channels

open access: yesJournal of the Operational Research Society, 2019
Many manufacturers have adopted differentiated distribution channels to market vertically differentiated products. However, there is scant literature addressing the quality differentiation in the presence of differentiated channel policies. We, therefore,

Electrochemical Behavior of Flame‐Sprayed Sc‐Doped AlCoCrFeMo High‐Entropy Alloy Coatings in 3.5% Sodium Chloride Solution

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Scandium (Sc)‐doped AlCoCrFeMo HEA coatings are fabricated via flame spraying with 0.1, 0.3, and 0.5 wt% Sc additions. Among these, the HEA‐Sc0.3 coating exhibits the highest corrosion resistance, indicated by a more positive corrosion potential and lower current density.
