Comparing Risks for Binomial Reliability Assurance Test Planning
ABSTRACT Balancing consumer's and producer's risk is an important consideration when planning tests. Instead of focusing on finding a single best test plan, we introduce a general framework to systematically identify a set of binomial test plans by leveraging the inverse relationship between the two risks.

This paper uses a numerical landscape evolution model to reconstruct the topographic history of Madagascar since the Late Cretaceous. The model is optimised by balancing the volumes of onshore erosion and offshore sedimentation; the former is predicted with erosion laws and based on uplift history inferred from elevated planation surfaces.

Hidden Markov Models and the Bayes Filter in Categorical Probability [PDF]
We use Markov categories to generalize the basic theory of Markov chains and hidden Markov models to an abstract setting. This comprises characterizations of hidden Markov models in terms of conditional independences and algorithms for Bayesian filtering and smoothing applicable in all Markov categories with conditionals.
