Mismatch negativity (MMN) and late discriminative negativity (LDN) were reliably elicited by pitch contour deviants across adulthood (18–86 years). MMN amplitude declined with age and predicted subsequent auditory memory precision, whereas LDN amplitude remained largely stable and showed no relationship with memory performance.

Adverse early life experiences are well-established risk factors for neurological disorders later in life. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying the impact of adverse experiences on neurophysiological systems throughout life remain incompletely ...

The accelerating influence of humans on mammalian macroecological patterns over the late Quaternary [PDF]
The transition of hominins to a largely meat-based diet ~1.8 million years ago led to the exploitation of other mammals for food and resources. As hominins, particularly archaic and modern humans, became increasingly abundant and dispersed across the ...

Network analysis of marmoset cortical connections reveals pFC and sensory clusters
A new analysis is presented of the retrograde tracer measurements of connections between anatomical areas of the marmoset cortex. The original normalisation of raw data yields the fractional link weight measure, FLNe.

Episodic memory impairments are a key feature of age-related cognitive decline. This study introduced a touch-screen task to assess the "what-where-which" components of episodic-like memory in marmosets (Callithrix jacchus).

Marmosets are valuable non-human primate models, however their unique reproduction results in high levels of blood chimerism, making blood unreliable for DNA sequencing.

Comparative mortality levels among selected species of captive animals [PDF]
We present life tables by single year of age and sex for groups of animals and for 42 individual mostly mammalian species. Data are derived from the International Species Information System. The survivorship of most of these species has never been mapped

This is the first report of parasitism by Gongylonema sp. in a free-ranging callitrichid from the Atlantic forest of Espírito Santo, Brazil. A juvenile male of Geoffroy's marmoset (Callithrix geoffroyi) was euthanized due to poor prognosis, then ...
