Assessment and Comparison of Molecular Subtyping and Characterization Methods for Salmonella

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2019
The food industry is facing a major transition regarding methods for confirmation, characterization, and subtyping of Salmonella. Whole-genome sequencing (WGS) is rapidly becoming both the method of choice and the gold standard for Salmonella subtyping ...

Querying of several DL-Lite knowledge bases from various information sources-based polynomial response unification approach

open access: yesJournal of King Saud University: Computer and Information Sciences, 2022
The inconsistency in the hierarchical knowledge base is due to the fact that the assertions (ABoxes) come from several sources with different levels of reliability.

Changes in Body Composition in Children and Young People Undergoing Treatment for Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Ongoing evidence indicates increased risk of sarcopenic obesity among children and young people (CYP) with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), often beginning early in treatment, persisting into survivorship. This review evaluates current literature on body composition in CYP with ALL during and after treatment.

MARS [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the ACL-IJCNLP 2009 Software Demonstrations on - ACL-IJCNLP '09, 2009
In this paper, we introduce a multilingual access and retrieval system with enhanced query translation and multilingual document retrieval, by mining bilingual terminologies and aligned document directly from the set of comparable corpora which are to be searched upon by users. By extracting bilingual terminologies and aligning bilingual documents with

Prolonged Corrected QT Interval as an Early Electrocardiographic Marker of Cyclophosphamide‐Induced Cardiotoxicity in Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Patients

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Cyclophosphamide (CY) is associated with potentially fatal cardiotoxicity, yet no electrocardiographic indices have been established for early detection of CY‐induced cardiomyopathy. This study aimed to determine whether corrected QT interval (QTc) prolongation can predict early onset of CY‐related cardiac dysfunction in pediatric ...

Nuclear microtubule filaments mediate non-linear directional motion of chromatin and promote DNA repair

open access: yesNature Communications, 2018
Following DNA damage, different processes come to action to aid repair. The authors here find that microtubule filaments within the cell nucleus capture and non-randomly mobilize damaged chromatin to mediate DNA repair.

Temporal and Spatial Analysis of Forward and Backward Microbial Contamination in a Mars Analog Mission

open access: yesFrontiers in Astronomy and Space Sciences, 2021
As human exploration missions to Mars are on the horizon, microbial cross-contamination remains a key issue to address. These issues can be approached today using advances in molecular metagenomics methods, which include rapid and sensitive sequencing ...

A Systematic Review of Evidence on the Clinical Effectiveness of Surveillance Imaging in Children With Medulloblastoma and Ependymoma

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Surveillance imaging aims to detect tumour relapse before symptoms develop, but it's unclear whether earlier detection of relapse leads to better outcomes in children and young people (CYP) with medulloblastoma and ependymoma. This systematic review aims to identify relevant literature to determine the efficacy of surveillance magnetic ...

Pathogenic Germline PALB2 and RAD50 Variants in Patients With Relapsed Ewing Sarcoma

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Approximately 10% of patients with Ewing sarcoma (EwS) have pathogenic germline variants. Here, we report two cases: first, a novel germline pathogenic variant in partner and localizer of BRCA2 (PALB2) in a patient with a late EwS relapse. Its impact on homologous recombination is demonstrated, and breast cancer risk is discussed.
