ABSTRACT Background Therapeutic apheresis (TA) is an established treatment modality for hematologic, neurologic, and immunologic disorders, yet access remains severely limited in sub‐Saharan Africa. Donor apheresis, including platelet apheresis collection from healthy donors, represents an important complementary modality supporting blood product ...

Dust and Clouds on Mars: The View from Mars Express
European Space Agency’s Mars Express (MEX) has been orbiting Mars for 20 years and its instruments have provided a plethora of observations of atmospheric dust and clouds. These observations have been analysed to produce many unique views of the processes leading to dust lifting and cloud formation, and a full picture of the climatologies of dust and ...

ABSTRACT Background Patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis commonly experience reduced physical function, fatigue, poor sleep quality, and impaired health‐related quality of life. Intradialytic exercise has been proposed as a non‐pharmacological strategy to improve these outcomes.

Rosetta swing-by at Mars – an analysis of the ROMAP measurements in comparison with results of 3-D multi-ion hybrid simulations and MEX/ASPERA-3 data [PDF]
The Rosetta spacecraft flew by Mars at a distance of 260 km on 25 February 2007 during a gravity assist manoeuvre. During the closest approach (CA) the lander magnetometer ROMAP was switched on.

Extraction of polar and nonpolar biomarkers from the martian soil using aqueous surfactant solutions [PDF]
The Life Marker Chip intends to use an aqueous surfactant solution to extract both polar AND nonpolar biomarkers from the martian soil for transport to an antibody-based detection system. Currently, a solution of 1.5 g l-1 polysorbate 80 in 20:80 (vol:

GLOBAL BUNDLE ADJUSTMENT WITH VARIABLE ORIENTATION POINT DISTANCE FOR PRECISE MARS EXPRESS ORBIT RECONSTRUCTION [PDF]
The photogrammetric bundle adjustment of line scanner image data requires a precise description of the time-dependent image orientation. For this task exterior orientation parameters of discrete points are used to model position and viewing direction of ...

A study on Electron Oscillations in the Magnetosheath of Mars with Mars Express observations [PDF]
AbstractWavelet analysis was employed to identify the major frequencies of low-frequency waves present in the Martian magnetosheath. The Morlet wavelet transform was selected and applied to the electron density data, obtained from the Analyzer of Space Plasmas and Energetic Atoms experiment (ASPERA-3), onboard the Mars Express (MEX) spacecraft. We have

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.
