Experimental Analysis and Numerical Simulation of Marshall Method of Asphalt Concrete Mix Design

Journal of Testing and Evaluation, 1983
Abstract The results of a numerical simulation of the Marshall testing procedure used in asphalt concrete mix design are reported in this work. The numerical simulation uses the finite element method to model both the asphalt concrete specimen as well as the surrounding testing heads.

Comparative research on Superpave Gyratory Compaction method and Marshall Compaction method in the mix design of AC-16

Proceedings 2011 International Conference on Transportation, Mechanical, and Electrical Engineering (TMEE), 2011
Gradation designs of AC-16 dense-graded asphalt mixture are conducted separately using the Marshall Compaction method of China and Superpave Gyratory Compaction method of America. The indexes determined by these two design methods are compared and analyzed.

Application of the Marshall Method to Hot Mix Design

1959
The primary purpose of this study was to determine the causes of extensive divergencies in test results obtained by different operators and different laboratories in the use of the Marshall test for hot mix design and to investigate discrepancies between laboratory-mixed and plant-mixed samples. The data and discussions presented are sufficient to draw

Comparison of marshall and superpave design methods, evaluation of wheel tracking test of asphalt mixtures designed by both methods

Sixth International RILEM Symposium on Performance Testing and Evaluation of Bituminous Materials, 2003
The research project SHRP and the system Superpave have brought a new way of asphalt mixtures design. In European countries however, the Marshall design method is still preferred. In the frame of the Czech-Austrian research between the Vienna University of Technology, lnstitute for Road Construction and Maintenance and the Brno University of Technology,
