Temperature dependence of martensite variant reorientation in stress-induced martensite aged Ni49Fe18Ga27Co6 single crystals

open access: yesScripta Materialia, 2020
Abstract In the present study, the temperature dependence of martensite variant reorientation in stress-induced martensite aged at 423 K along the [110]B2||[100]L10-direction Ni49Fe18Ga27Co6 single crystals was investigated in compression. This martensite aging induces a rubber-like behavior with a reversible strain of up to –16.0% along the [001]B2 ...

In-situ high energy X-ray diffraction study of microscopic deformation behavior of martensite variant reorientation in NiTi wire

open access: yesApplied Materials Today, 2021
Abstract This study investigated the collective evolution of martensite variant structures, the development of crystallographic textures and the load partitioning among the variants during tensile deformation in a commercial polycrystalline NiTi wire by means of in-situ high-energy X-ray diffraction technique.

Crystallographic insights into diamond-shaped 7M martensite in Ni–Mn–Ga ferromagnetic shape-memory alloys [PDF]

open access: yesIUCrJ, 2019
For Heusler-type Ni–Mn–Ga ferromagnetic shape-memory alloys, the configuration of the martensite variants is a decisive factor in achieving a large magnetic shape-memory effect through field-induced variant reorientation.

Magnetically induced reorientation of martensite variants in constrained epitaxial Ni–Mn–Ga films grown on MgO(001)

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2008
Magnetically induced reorientation (MIR) is observed in epitaxial orthorhombic Ni-Mn-Ga films. Ni-Mn-Ga films have been grown epitaxially on heated MgO(001) substrates in the cubic austenite state. The unit cell is rotated by 45 relative to the MgO cell. The growth, structure texture and anisotropic magnetic properties of these films are described. The
