Influence of defects on the irreversible phase transition in the Fe-Pd doped with Co and Mn [PDF]
The appearance of BCT martensite in Fe-Pd-based ferromagnetic shape memory alloys, which develops at lower temperatures than the thermoelastic martensitic transition, deteriorates the shape memory properties.

Non‐Equilibrium Synthesis Methods to Create Metastable and High‐Entropy Nanomaterials
Synthesis of compositionally‐complex materials is limited by immiscibility of elements. Nonequilibrium synthesis methods reviewed here use ultrafast heating and cooling to overcome this limitation, creating metastable solid solutions and high‐entropy nanomaterials.

ABSTRACT A major challenge in fabricating eutectic NiTiNb alloys is the incomplete melting of Nb due to its much higher melting point than the NiTi matrix. In this work, a novel electron‐beam freeform additive manufacturing strategy is developed to eliminate unmelted Nb particles and achieve a fully eutectic structure through independent dual‐wire ...

Magnetic domain structure of epitaxial Ni-Mn-Ga films
For the magnetic shape memory effect, knowledge about the interaction between martensitic and magnetic domain structure is essential. In the case of Ni-Mn-Ga bulk material and foils, a staircase-like magnetic domain structure with 90{\deg}- and 180{\deg}-

Relation between the martensite volume fraction and the equivalent transformation strain in shape memory alloys [PDF]
International audienceThis study concerns the pseudoelasticity of shape memory alloys. A series of tests under multiaxial loadings and a micro-macro model are used to show the validity of a conjecture concerning the relation between the volume fraction ...

ABSTRACT High‐entropy alloys (HEAs) exhibit exceptional mechanical properties under cryogenic conditions, defying the conventional strength‐ductility trade‐off observed in traditional metal. This review systematically consolidates recent advancements in understanding the deformation mechanisms, microstructural dynamics, and anomalous mechanical ...

Reorientation of Ni–Mn–Ga martensite in rotating magnetic field
Reorientation of martensitic variants in the Ni 52.0 Mn 24.4 Ga 23.6 single crystalline disk under magnetic field rotating in the disk plane has been studied. The reorientation proved to be possible in the fields exceeding 130 kAm −1 and started when the
